Make up lessons

At Shaplands’ we have a philosophy that you get the number of lessons you pay for and since 1992 have, as part of our program, had in place a free lesson make up system. Unlike other swim schools where you have to pay for make-up lessons, or you can only have your make up lessons on certain days or the make-up lessons are limited to one per term/month, Shapland’s make-up lessons are free and unlimited while you are in our program.

Shaplands’ have gone to a lot of time and expense developing a unique client interface called MySSS, which allows our clients’ real time access to our swim school roster.  We urge you to use MySSS to cancel your lesson provided the cancellation is within the time frames, which allows the system to work. That cut off time is 8:00 am on the morning of the lesson. Any lessons cancelled after 8:00 am cannot be added to the make-up lesson pool and as a result you will not have a make-up lesson added to your account.

If you think of the Make-up system as being a type of swap system, it may help you understand the concept. This is how it works. When you cancel a lesson your spot in that lesson becomes available for a make-up lesson.

Now the system only works if the lesson is cancelled before the cut off time for cancellations. Unfortunately, we have clients who ring up after the cut off time to cancel their lesson for the day, in fact we have clients phoning up minutes before their child is due to get in the pool and have their lessons. This is unacceptable because it negates the lesson, because it was cancelled after the cut off time from being available for a make-up lesson.

As is the case when first getting used to any system some of our clients really do not understand how our make-up system works and as a result think they can phone up, or go on MySSS, anytime and cancel or book a make-up lesson. Cancelling a lesson needs to be done before the cut of time each day and booking a make-up lesson can only be done 1 day in advance for administration efficiency.

We are urging you to use MySSS to help make your time with Shaplands productive and also to make sure you get what you paid for.

Make-up lessons are part of the Shapland philosophy of putting our children first which is why we offer this service because we know how frustrating it can be when a child gets sick and can’t make their lesson and that frustration is compounded when you are out of pocket for the lesson you paid for and missed.

Given the unique nature of our unlimited Make-up system we have had to put in place criteria for the use of this service. Make-up lessons can only be used when you are actively enrolled in the program, can not be used as credit against your payment for the month, all make up lessons must be used before your official finish date once that date has passed all make-up lessons are null and void.
